Banks, pharmacies and the government hospital are in Mae Haad, alongside shops and places to eat. The ferry pier brings a steady flow of arrivals, while the coastal path links Mae Haad with Sairee to the north.
All visitors reach Koh Tao by boat, arriving at Mae Haad pier. Lomprayah Koh Tao Pier is 400 m from Bird Nest, making the final stretch a walk of around that distance. Ferries connect Koh Tao with Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Chumphon; the crossing from Koh Samui takes about 1.5–2 hours, and boats from Koh Phangan take 45–90 minutes. Chumphon is the shortest mainland crossing, at roughly two hours. The hostel has free private parking on site. Rough seas can disrupt ferry services, particularly from November to January.
Mae Haad Beach is 450 m away, while Jansom Bay Beach is 950 m from the hostel. Sairee Beach, with dive schools, restaurants and beach bars along its sand, is 1.1 km away; Sai Nuan Beach is 1.2 km away.
